Open Research Position
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is the result of the merger of the University of Karlsruhe and the Research Center, Karlsruhe. The Young Investigator Group Facial Image Processing and Analysis in the Institute of Anthropomatics, at the Computer Science Department of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has an open position for a
PhD Research Assistant
at salary grade TV-L, E13. The project’s objective is to conduct research on automatic processing of facial images in order to build systems that can read the faces as humans do. The main tasks will be facial expression analysis and age and gender classification.
Candidates should hold a Master’s degree (or Diplom) in the areas of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or in a related discipline. They should have a solid background in image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition. Excellent C++ programming skills under Linux as well as good oral and written English skills are expected. A strong academic record and high motivation for creative research is required. Candidates must have willingness to team-work, independent thinking and self-learning.
The Young Investigator Group Facial Image Processing and Analysis is a part of Computer Vision for Human-Computer Interaction research group (http://cvhci.ira.uka.de/). The successful candidate will be working in an international, highly motivated, inspiring team of researchers.
