PhD Student Position in the Microbial Ecophysiology and Community Dynamics in Environmental Bioprocesses, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore


A PhD student position is available in School of Civil and Environmental Engineering
(CEE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. The research will focus on the microbial ecophysiology and community dynamics in environmental bioprocesses. Self?motivated individuals who are interested in environmental microbiology and engineering are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a Master degree in relevant discipline and a strong background in experimental microbiology and/or bioprocess engineering will be considered favorably.

NTU is a major research intensive university in Singapore, and is highly recognized for its excellence in science and engineering. It is always highly ranked in many international comparisons of higher education.

A 4 year full research scholarship will be given through the School to the qualified candidate. The scholarship covers all tuition fees and stipend of S$2,000/month which is raised to S$2,500/month from year 2 after passing qualification exam. The monthly living cost on campus is about S$800-900. Special support for students to attend oversea conferences is also available.

Applicants with qualified academic record and good TOFEL and GRE scores will be considered immediately. International applicants must submit TOEFL and GRE scores (tested within 2 years) to the School before getting the final admission. Local applicants do not need the scores.
