PS: Post của bạn dài mà không quote các đoạn bạn trao đổi với giáo sư ra các quote riêng thì tớ e rằng các bậc phụ lão ở đây không chú ý tới post của bạn nhiều lắm đâu vì họ không có nhiều thời gian đọc hết những gì bạn đã post ở trên.

Eso gặp một Dr làm tuyển sinh cho undergraduate của MSU tại một Education fair ở Hanoi cuối năm 2009, có thể ông đó đã giới thiệu với ông này và ông này đã chủ động viết thư cho eso, các email đuoc trao đổi như sau:

Since then I have returned to Vietnam to visit students and administrators in HCMC, Hue and Hanoi. In fact,I managed to find myself in your country three times last year and loved every minute. Currently I am working in Forestry Faculty, College of ..., ... University and very interested in applying to College of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University.

I want to know more about the requirements of the College of Forest for a graduate student such as GRE score, Toefl score, GPA etc.. so that I can estimate my chance to get admitted and funding. Moreover, I really appreciate it if you could introduce me to any professors in the field of forest resource studies that you may know.
I am happy to know that you will come back Vietnam this year. If you need any thing please let me know, I am very please to help you.

I requested on January 27th that the graduate school give you an overview of their requirements. After satisfying that unit your documents will be sent to the Forestry unit for specific evaluation. I'm certain that a graduate school representative will respond to your query. I suspect that they are extremely busy given that our spring semester has only recently begun. Please contact me next Wednesday, February, 3rd if there is a need.
I hope to see you this year in Hanoi. I await your CV and a description of your academic interest so that I can begin looking for a mentor.

1st: Các bác cho eso hỏi chút về cách viết Academic interest, form như nào và nên đưa những thông tin gì vào đấy.
2st: Eso không có paper, điểm GRE và GPA rất thấp nên không dám với cao, vì vậy nếu ông này contact như vậy thì eso nên làm gì tiếp theo? mong các bác hồi âm sớm cho eso để eso gửi cho ông ấy cái academic interest và viết email nếu có thể thì gặp ông ấy ở Vn.

OK, tóm lại lại có một ông ở MSU chủ động gửi email đến chào mời bạn. Có thể họ muốn bạn nộp một cái unofficial application để họ review. Nếu họ thấy hồ sơ bạn ok thì sẽ bảo bạn nộp hồ sơ chính thức.

Cái Academic interest cũng không khác gì lắm cái SOP, trình bày ước mơ, nguyện vọng, kinh nghiệm nghiên cứu, hướng nghiên cứu trong tương lai, thích chọn những giáo sư như thế nào. Bạn có thể lục tìm trong diễn đàn này các phần nói về SOP hoặc xem cái SOP mẫu mà các bạn được admission đã upload lên.

Bạn cần phải viết một cái CV thật tốt nữa. Mẫu viết CV thế nào thì bạn có thể tìm trên mạng hoặc tham khảo CV của ex-labmate của mình.

Chả mất gì cả nên cứ thể mà nộp hồ sơ như người ta yêu cầu thôi.

Em đang apply và nhận đc email về iBT requirement:

Your TOEFL scores have been received and it has been determined that your scores are inadequate for study at George Mason University. The minimum score accepted on the TOEFL Internet based test is an 88 (Em đac 86 - thiếu 2 điểm thôi - hu hu)with at least 20 in each section (Em thiếu 3 điểm speaking). As you are aware, your scores does not meet the minimum requirement.

You may defer your application until a new term - which will allow you time to re-take the TOEFL or I can continue to process your application with hopes that you will submit a new score in time to have your application reviewed for the Fall 2010 semester.

Please let me know by May 10, 2010 how you would like me to proceed.

Ẹm rất khó thi lại iBT - vì không còn kịp ôn lại để đạt điểm. Trong trường hợp này em nên defer tới kỳ sau, hay là nên cố xin waiver? Em đã contact với gs trong khoa, nhưng his attitude is not clear, just nice. Có ai đã trong trường hợp này chưa ạ?
