Xuất phát từ câu hỏi của bạn number tại [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], tôi nghĩ rằng sẽ là một ý kiến thú vị để các bạn bè đồng nghiệp cùng trao đổi. Chúng ta sẽ đánh giá tài liệu một cách khách quan, theo sự mạnh yếu/ phù hợp của tài liệu, và sẽ tổng hợp tại đây.
Em xin trích dẫn một số ý kiến của Hòa thượng Thích Học Toán về chủ đề trên: "Sách hay về đại số thì nhiều lắm, mỗi quyển bổ ích cho một chuyện gì đó cụ thể. Để tìm những khái niệm cơ sở, bạn có thể đọc quyển Algebra của Serge Lang. Khi nào tôi quên cách chứng minh của một cái gì đó không quá chuyên sâu thì tôi mở quyển này. Ông Lang có tài viết sách, viết rất nhiều sách thường thì không tồi cho ai bắt đầu học một chuyên môn gì đó. Nhưng thường các chuyên gia lại không thích sách ông Lang. Bần tăng lúc nào sẽ viết một bài vui vẻ về ông Lang và sách của ông Lang.
Mấy quyển sách ông Lang viết về diophantine geometry đều rất tốt, vì đó là lĩnh vực nghiên cứu của ông ấy. Quyển Diffenrential geometry cũng không dở quá, nhưng ông ấy chép lại nhiều từ những quyển khác. Quyển SL_2(R) theo bần đạo thực ra cũng không dở đến như ông Langlands nói, nhưng đúng là thiếu cái tinh thần của lý thuyết biểu diễn. Dùng để đọc song song với các quyển khác như quyển của Knapp và quyển của Wallach. Quyển Algebraic number theory cũng rất tốt, nhưng người ta chê ông ấy cóp nguyên bài giảng của Artin, không biết là có đúng không. Thực ra mình không cần quan tâm lắm đến ba chuyện này. Ông Lang viết nhiều, vì ông ấy thực sự có tài viết. Đọc sách của ông ấy thường dễ hiểu hơn sách của mấy tác giả đúng chuyên môn, nhưng đôi khi cũng bị mất một cái tinh thần gì đó."

Có nhiều ngành khác, kiểu như dân Engineering, Chemistry, hoặc Biology cũng rất cần đến Math nhưng chắc không cân nổi 1/4 số sách mà bác recommend, mà lại còn tuỳ thuộc vào research interest thì mới thấy quyển nào đáng đọc chứ. Kiểu như Engineering thì solving equations là cần thiết, nhưng không cần deep đến độ học AG để hiểu được totality of solutions of a system of equations, vì một khi học sâu đến độ đấy rồi thì sẽ rất dễ quên big problem và lại càng khó để multidisiplines, link cac nganh lại với nhau để giải quyết cái problems của mình. Em thấy Engineering thì chỉ cần mấy phần introductory của stage 3 là đủ rồi, mà mỗi phần chỉ cần 1 quyển mỏng mỏng thôi, >300 pages thì nên bỏ qua khẩn trương cho nhẹ đầu, nếu đọc hiểu lectures notes để làm problems sets nhanh nhạy thì càng tốt, không cần thiết nắm chắc gốc rễ của lí thuyết (engineering tính thực dụng cao mà), không thì dễ bị thần kinh lắm.

Có nhiều ngành khác, kiểu như dân Engineering, Chemistry, hoặc Biology cũng rất cần đến Math nhưng chắc không cân nổi 1/4 số sách mà bác recommend, mà lại còn tuỳ thuộc vào research interest thì mới thấy quyển nào đáng đọc chứ. Kiểu như Engineering thì solving equations là cần thiết, nhưng không cần deep đến độ học AG để hiểu được totality of solutions of a system of equations, vì một khi học sâu đến độ đấy rồi thì sẽ rất dễ quên big problem và lại càng khó để multidisiplines, link cac nganh lại với nhau để giải quyết cái problems của mình. Em thấy Engineering thì chỉ cần mấy phần introductory của stage 3 là đủ rồi, mà mỗi phần chỉ cần 1 quyển mỏng mỏng thôi, >300 pages thì nên bỏ qua khẩn trương cho nhẹ đầu, nếu đọc hiểu lectures notes để làm problems sets nhanh nhạy thì càng tốt, không cần thiết nắm chắc gốc rễ của lí thuyết (engineering tính thực dụng cao mà), không thì dễ bị thần kinh lắm.
